Announcing…Carol Orton Travel

I am proud to announce the launch of my own business: Carol Orton Travel. Yes, I know the name is a little obvious, but I am hoping my first my clients will be my friends and neighbors and those who have come to know me over the last twenty years through my work as an education advocate and local school supporter in our Silicon Valley community.

My official title is Custom Travel Consultant. Also, Owner, Carol Orton Travel. Maybe even President and Chief Boss of Me. But most important, I’m launching a business of my own doing something that I’ve done for many years and that is really fun for me.

Sara Loves To Travel

For decades one of my favorite activities has been to research and plan travel for family and friends. This has included researching destinations, hotels, transportation, activities, local cuisine, interesting restaurants, and culture and history. Destinations included Italy (Rome, Tuscany, Venice), Spain (north and south), Morocco, Norway, Hawaii (countless times), Mexico, El Salvador, U.S. destinations, and more. I like to think that I did a pretty good job during those amateur years of travel planning, but now I think I’m even better. I’ll tell you why.

My affiliations with a major travel agency (Montrose Travel) and consortium (Ensemble Travel) allow me to access priority pricing and trustworthy deals that I couldn’t find before as a lone person searching the Internet.

I’ve gotten training from experts in the best ways to research, book, and organize travel. I have been taking and continue to take accredited classes on both methodology of travel planning and destination knowledge. Already I’ve received my “Destination Specialist-Hawaii” credential from both The Travel Institute and the Hawaii Convention and Visitors Bureau, and my studies continue for other destinations.

I love the detail of travel—figuring out schedules, developing itineraries and researching competing options—a gift I didn’t appreciate until I began talking with others about my plan to launch this business. It’s not for everyone, but being detail-oriented and deadline conscious is essential to doing this job well. Got it.

I’m told that I’m an empathetic and intuitive listener, and I know I get real satisfaction from figuring out ways to customize trips for couples, families, and groups of friends that make them happy. So give me a call or email me, and let’s talk travel.
